Friends Bookshop on the Square

The Friends Bookshop is located just inside the front doors of the Fort Dodge Public Library. The items sold in the bookshop are donations made by the community. The volunteer run bookshop is the main source of income for the Friends and all proceeds go to the library.

Donations are not being accepted at this time

Donations can be dropped off to the bookshop during open hours or may be brought to the front desk inside the library.

When donating items, please keep in mind the bookshop does NOT accept the following:

  • Encyclopedias
  • Textbooks
  • Condensed books/materials
  • VHS
  • Audio cassettes
  • Weekly magazines
  • Magazines over a year old
  • Damaged / Torn / Dirty / Musty items



 The bookshop is always looking for volunteers who are interested in staffing the cash register, sorting books and stocking the shelves a few hours a month.
