Using a Computer

All patrons, regardless of age or ability, will have access to the library’s public access computers.

No food or drinks are allowed near the library’s computers.

Computer Use Policy

The Library has computers with high-speed Internet access and Microsoft Office for use by the public.

Fort Dodge Public Library card holders should use their cards to log onto the computers. To sign on to a computer, enter your entire library card number, without spaces. Your PIN will be the last 4 digits of your card number.

Individuals without a Fort Dodge Public Library card (or patrons who have forgotten their cards) will be issued a day pass at the Check Out Desk after presenting a photo ID.

Individuals may use a public access computer for no more than two (2) hours per day.  Exceptions may be made for students taking exams or participating in online educational courses or for individuals completing application forms/tax forms/etc.

Fees for printing are:

$.10 per page for B&W
$.50 per page for Color

Computers automatically shut down 15 minutes prior to the library’s closing time. 
Monday and Tuesday computers shut down at 7:45 pm
Wednesday – Friday computers shut down at 5:15 pm
Saturday computers shut down at 12:45 pm

For Children (thru 6th Grade):

The Library has 4 AWE computers in the Children’s Department, and 2 AWE computers in the adult computer lab, with educational games. The children’s computers do NOT have internet access.

Computers in the Children’s Department are for use by children only.

Printing is not available from the computers in the Children’s Department.

Children 10 and under must be attended by an adult while they are using the computers.

Children are able to use the computers for up to 30 minutes per day.
