Webster County Genealogical Society

The Fort Dodge Public Library is home to both the Historical and Genealogical Society offices. These are both volunteer run programs and at this time are not always staffed during regular library hours. Please see below for contact information.

 

Reference staff members can only search for an obituary, marriage, birth announcement or other event if a specific date (month and year) is supplied. Please be aware that staff members will research all requests in the order they were received and as time permits. If you do not have a specific date or would like to receive this information more quickly, please contact the appropriate service listed below.

Genealogical Research

If you do not have a specific date, or would like to receive this information more quickly, we recommend that you contact the Webster County Genealogical Society with your genealogical questions or requests. They do genealogical research for individuals for a fee.

The Webster County Iowa Genealogical Society’s room is located in the Fort Dodge Public Library and is open by appointment only. For an appointment, call 515-570-7840.

If you know the approximate date of the item you are looking for, you might consider borrowing a microfilm copy of the local newspaper through your local library. Microfilm may be borrowed from the State Historical Society of Iowa’s library. Your local library should be able to contact them for you.
